Sarah Van De Velde

Forensic Psychologist

I am committed to approaching my clients with an open mind and an empathic and warm approach, to work with them to identify their needs and goals and to work towards those goals by providing evidence-based psychological techniques and support. I am passionate about working with a diverse range of people, and in particular providing support to those from marginalised communities to achieve their goals and to increase life satisfaction. I use a trauma-informed approach and have training with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.

I work with people who have a range of needs that include major mental illness, complex trauma, intellectual disability, emotion regulation difficulties, addiction, and anger management difficulties and provide support for individuals in crisis. I have experience in working in community health, drug and alcohol settings, and in providing forensic assessment, court reports and treatment for people who have had contact with the criminal justice system.

I am registered to provide treatment under a Mental Health Care Plan, and am a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
